INSULAE MAPS creates the poster for the 82nd Travessia de l'Estany de Banyoles

After many weeks of working, it is very exciting to be able to announce that this year's graphic image of the Travessia de l'Estany de Banyoles will be in charge of INSULAE MAPS.

Yesterday, at a press conference in one of the renovated levers of the Club's facilities, the starting signal for the 82nd edition was given. The event was attended by the president of CN Banyoles, Jordi Casanova; the new culture member replacing Toni Bramon, Josep Masdevall; and the author of the map and INSULAE MAPS artist, Jordi Robirola.

Following the precepts of the INSULAE philosophy, Robirola explained that on this occasion, more than a visual residue in the form of a stain, the abstract image that he chose to be inspired by the cartography were the differences in depth of the basins of the Estany through an aerial image. The circular shape of the buckets, he said, reminded him of the Pacific atolls and this led him to relate the map to the notion of travel.

Thus, the poster piece becomes a folded map like the usual ones. When unfolded, it becomes a kind of tourist guide to an imaginary destination that proposes a journey through the history of the most emblematic open water event in Catalonia. The toponymy of the map reviews all the absolute winners as well as historical swimmers of the CN ​​Banyoles, local swimmers who cross the Estany faster and numerous citations to the intangible heritage characteristic of the city of Banyoles.

The graphic identity is complemented by the medal, which in this case will be a magnet, a T-shirt and a bag conceived as the typical travel souvenir kit.

On the back of the poster, where the classifications appear, a facelift has also been made with the unification of the style and the correction of some errors. A column with the year has been added next to the edition with Roman numerals to facilitate identification and another with the coordinates of each and every one of the winners of the Travessia to be able to locate them on the map. In addition, two new classifications have been introduced: one with the swimmers with the most swims won and another with the Top Ten of the fastest local swimmers. This classification is unisex with boys and girls mixed and recognizes the fastest swimmers born in Banyoles or trained in the lower categories of CN Banyoles, even though they have made the mark competing for another club.
